<p>On May 14, 2008 Governor Ritter signed into law House Bill 08-1109, which gives the Secretary of State increased authority to regulate Charities, including the right to suspend or fine charities for failing to register with the Secretary of State. On May 27, 2008, the Secretary of State sent an email to all charities advising them of registration and annual reporting requirements, and later extended the deadline to register to the end of June.
